Thomas Armstrong

Thomas Armstrong began learning Irish Dance at the age of eight with Scoil-Rince Mona Ni Rodaigh in Dundalk, Co. Louth. Born and raised in Crossmaglen, Co. Armagh Thomas has danced competitively across the globe over his career for solo and team contests up to the age of 20, achieving results in top competitions such as Ulster, All-Ireland, British National, All-Scotland and World Championship level. Throughout his solo reign he achieved trophies and medals in these major competitions with accomplishing World Medals at the World Championships and Top Five in his Regional’s and All-Scotland’s every year. As a result of his achievements in céilí competitions, he has captained and won two World Championship Titles and Numerous All-Ireland and Ulster Gold Medals in junior and senior mixed céilí contests.

 

From the age of ten, Thomas started performing Irish Dance professionally for entertainment in front of audiences at events such as Corporates, Weddings and Saint Patrick’s Day Parades. After dancing with Prodijig in 2012, Thomas then celebrated Riverdance’s 20th Anniversary by dancing with the cast and 100s of dancers across Ireland on the Late Late Show in 2014. Iconic Landmarks of Ireland such as Croke Park has also been a venue of Thomas’ as he performed a number there with Scoil-Rince Mona Ni Rodaigh in 2013. In the summer of 2016 he enlisted in Riverdance’s Summer School where he learnt his trade in performing in front of an audience as a professional dancer. He then took his professional career to the stage, being the lead male dancer for An Irish Christmas who toured across Europe during Christmas 2016, followed by becoming a member of Damhsa in early 2017. Thomas has also used his dancing talents to raise money for charity’s, performing with Riverdance in a 24 hour danceathon in 2016 and with Fusion Fighters in 2017 for the Irish Kidney Association.

 

Before joining college, Thomas then spent part of his summer dancing in Cyprus for The Emerald Isle Show in 2017. He is still a member of Damhsa today and enjoys performing at their corporate and evening events. Thomas is currently studying a Bachelor’s Degree in Sports Therapy at the University of Birmingham, and is soon to graduate in the summer of 2020.
