Gráinne Burke

Gráinne Burke, from Kilmore, Co. Roscommon, is studying in St.Patrick’s College Drumcondra. She is studying a Bachelor of Arts degree in Irish and Human Development. At age five she began Irish Dancing progressing to set dancing and finally to Sean Nós dancing. For a number of years Gráinne has taught both Sean Nós and Set Dancing with the club Áirc Damhsa. Gráinne has taught dance classes both nationally and internationally through both mediums, Irish and English.

 

She has performed on programmes on Tg4 such as Jig Gig, Feis and Blood and the Oireachtas dancing competition ‘Steip Beo’. She has competed in both Set Dancing and Séan Nos Competitions in the All Ireland Fleadh over the years. She has placed in numerous competitions such as the All Ireland Fleadh and other national and international competitions. Gráinne has also won dancer of the year at the Áirc Damhsa club and many other awards such as this. Gráinne performs at various events such as weddings and music/dance concerts.

 

Gráinne has danced with artists such as Nathan Carter, De Danann, We Banjo 3, Sharon Shannon and Socks in the Frying Pan. She has also performed at events such as The Rose of Tralee festival, LGFA all-star awards and for the President of Ireland. Gráinne has a keen interest in music and dance as she has been involved in organizing events such as Crossroads Dances where old traditions are maintained and kept alive through music, song and dance.
