Dr. Eithne Walls Tribute

We would like to pay tribute to Dr. Eithne Walls who was sadly lost in the Air France flight 447 crash in 2009.

Eithne's dancing career extended over 20 years where she ranked consistently in all of the major competitions holding medals from the Ulster, All-Ireland, American, British Nationals and the World Championships.

She was a member of Riverdance since retiring from competition in 2000 beginning with a year-long stint on Broadway, New York, after which she commenced 6 years of medical studies at Trinity College, Dublin. While at University, Eithne continued to perform as a member of the Riverdance 'flying squad' and had the opportunity to dance in China, Qatar, Germany and France and then as a full-time cast member in 2004 when Riverdance returned to the Gaiety for its summer run.

Since qualifying as a doctor in 2007 Eithne still found the time to dance regularly at numerous corporate events for Damhsa. She featured with our Dance Company throughout the whole series of Glas Vegas 2009 on TG4 finishing runners up in the Grand Final.

Eithne we thank you for your memorable performances with Damhsa and we will miss your spirit and smiles that brought energy and light to all of us everyday!

We would like to extend our sincere thanks and appreciation to everyone who have contacted us through Damhsa to extend their own sympathies and condolences. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Walls family.
